This prestigious award celebrates the festival’s commitment to promoting local theatre, encouraging original writing, and creating opportunities for playwrights, directors and actors to showcase their creativity and talent.

Since its launch, the Cospicua Short Play Festival has continued to grow, becoming an important event in Malta’s cultural calendar. The festival provides a platform not only for established writers but also for emerging talent, allowing new voices to develop their skills and bring original stories to the stage.

Being recognised as Best Community Project highlights the cultural and social impact of the initiative, as well as the dedication and hard work of the Cospicua Local Council and everyone involved in bringing the festival to life.

The award reflects the importance of community-driven cultural projects and the role they play in strengthening artistic expression and participation at a local level.

The Cospicua Short Play Festival 2026 will take place on 18 and 19 September 2026, continuing its mission to celebrate theatre, creativity and the rich talent found within Malta’s artistic community.
